Subject description
Fluid Mechanics within the area of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling to augment existing strengths in mathematical description of combustion and flow systems, multiple phase solid/liquid/gas interaction, and large-scale computation. Areas of interest include but not limited to biomass thermal-chemical conversion in industrial furnaces, liquid spray combustion in internal combustion engines, and fundamental combustion process involved in multiple phase combustion and gasification.

Work duties
Employment as an associate senior lecturer is a career development position and  aims for the holder to develop his or her independence as a researcher and educator. The work duties mainly involve research and teaching. The position shall include five weeks as a minimum of training in higher education teaching and learning.

The research is within the areas of computational studies of combustion and gasification of solid fuels, biomass fuel and char, as well as liquid spray combustion under high injection pressure, high ambient temperature, and high ambient pressure conditions that are relevant to internal combustion engines.

The position involves supervision of Master and Ph.D. students, teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, in both fundamental thermal fluid science as well as advanced courses on combustion and gasification.

Other duties of the position include actively seeking external research funding, collaboration with industry and wider society, as well as department duties and administration related to the work duties listed above.

Qualification requirements
