Our research spans a broad field within experimental preclinical research, near-patient clinical research and health sciences research. The Department of Laboratory Medicine is one of six departments at Lund University’s Faculty of Medicine. We conduct leading research, both broad and specialised, within the field of laboratory medicine, focusing on the onset of disease and how we can improve diagnostics and treatment for patients. Some of our strongest areas with world-class research deal with cancer, genetics and blood.

We are now looking for a research engineer who will join the research group of Björn Nilsson at the Division of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine. The group has a genomics- and bioinformatics orientation on malignant blood disorders, and their genetic basis. 

Work duties
The candidate that we are looking for will be involved in functional studies of genetic variants correlated to blood cell formation and should be able to utilize a range of tools from molecular and cell biology. The candidate is also expected to contribute in scientific writing, the day to day work in the lab, as well as supervision of students.


We are looking for someone that meets the following criterias and candidates with an experience from the field of immunology will be given preference.

  • a PhD degree in relevant field, 
  • post-doctoral experience in immunology
  • solid experience of cell and molecular biology with expertise in molecular biology (PCR, RT-qPCR, RAPDPCR), RNAi, proteomics, transcriptomics, biochemistry (e.g., Western, ELISA, protein purification, Co-IP), microbiology, cell cuturing and lentiviral infections and confocal microscopy,
  • experience in project management,
  • experience in supervising of students,
  • experience in scientific writing as well as good communication and presentation skills,
  • experience in management and organization of laboratory equipment and in lab-books and protocol updating,
  • excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and personal suitability.
