The Occupational and Environmental Dermatology Division of Skåne University Hospital in Malmö (YMDA) has been conducting traditional public healthcare activities and extensive research and development since 1995. Skin diseases caused by the work and leisure environment are very common in surroundings that are constantly changing in terms of the work environment, processes and introduction of new chemicals and products. The research activities at YMDA are very intense and often based on the need for improved diagnostics and prevention of skin disorders related to the described changes in work and leisure environments.

The position will be located at the Department of Clinical Sciences in Malmö and combined with employment as a specialist physician/consultant at Skåne University Hospital.

Work duties
The work duties associated with the position include research, third cycle education and teaching on the faculty’s medical degree programme within the field of occupational and environmental dermatology. Other work duties normally associated with employment as a professor include some administration, as well as internal and external duties in elected office both nationally and internationally.

Within the framework of the position as specialist/consultant physician, independent clinical duties in occupational dermatology are included. Further duties may arise as part of the position.

Qualifications
Pursuant to Chapter 4 Section 3 of the Higher Education Ordinance, a person who has demonstrated both research and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment as a professor.

The applicant is to have specialist qualifications in dermatology and venereology.

As the position as professor is combined with that of a specialist physician, applicants must, at the start of their employment, possess the knowledge of Swedish required to practise the medical profession (in accordance with the National Board of Health and Welfare’s definition which also accepts equivalent knowledge of Norwegian or Danish).

Grounds for assessment
The applicant is to have demonstrated very high expertise of significance for the subject in both research and teaching. The assessment will place particular emphasis on research expertise.

The applicant is to have demonstrated research expertise by maintaining a high national and international level as a researcher. Furthermore, it is an additional qualification if the applicant is a principal applicant for research grants awarded in national or international competition. Experience of translational research and research that can be implemented in public healthcare is an additional qualification.

Documented clinical independence and experience of leading clinical work in occupational dermatology is a particularly relevant qualification.

The applicant is to have demonstrated teaching expertise in both tuition and supervision, in the first, second and third cycles of study.

Documented leadership abilities and the capacity to interact with wider society will also be taken into account.
