Lund University School of Economics and Management is one of eight faculties within Lund University. More than 4 000 students and 450 researchers, teachers and other staff are engaged here in training and research in economic history, business administration, business law, informatics, economics, statistics and research policy.

With its six departments the EQUIS accredited School of Economics and Management offers high quality education and conducts cutting-edge research in all areas related to the private and public economy.

The Department of Business Administration is one of the largest departments at Lund University, and it is also the largest department of the School of Economics and Management, consisting of five subject areas.

The subject area of entrepreneurship and innovation is organised as a centre: the Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship, which was inaugurated in 2012. Today, the Centre has grown to 20 employees that carry out research and provide education in entrepreneurship. Today, Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship is one of the largest entrepreneurship centres in Europe, and the ambition is to grow. Research relates to the entrepreneurial process, for instance different aspects of growth and finance. The new position is expected to strengthen and complement these areas as well as introduce the perspective of ownership. The position is financed through a donation from Tetra Laval.

Job description
Lund University announces a permanent, fulltime position as senior lecturer in Business Administration, specialising in Entrepreneurship. The position entails research within the area of ownership, as well as teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The position comprises of a maximum of 70% teaching, a minimum of 20% research, and 10% administrative duties. However, the donation from Tetra Laval guarantees at least 50% research during the first five years of employment.

The Tetra Laval donation allows substantial resources to conduct active advanced research and to build a research environment at the Centre in the field of ownership. This entails resources for PhD-candidates and/or post docs, and to engage in the development of collaborations with other university units and other Swedish and international organisations involved in this type of research.

As for teaching, the person is expected to develop relevant teaching modules in the area of ownership, to teach in the existing entrepreneurship and innovation courses and programmes, and to embrace the action oriented pedagogical model.

The person may in addition be expected to take some responsibility for the collegial leadership of the Centre and/or department.

Eligibility
Qualifications for an appointment as Senior Lecturer includes demonstrated teaching expertise, an awarded PhD, and a track record of published research. For this position the qualified applicants must have a doctorate related to entrepreneurship.

It is a requirement to have completed at least five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means. In certain cases exceptions can be made from this requirement.

The aim in recruiting academic staff is to find those with the best possible skills and potential for the duties of the post.

Basis of assessment
Documented research skills are required within or in close proximity to the area of ownership in relation to entrepreneurship. The applicant should describe current research themes and present a research plan for the next few years, together with a plan for the development of the research environment at the Centre.

Scientific qualifications will be evaluated mainly based on quality and number of peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Today, research and postgraduate studies at the University are largely based on the ability and competence of the individual researcher to obtain external funding. Hence, a capability to obtain research grants in national or international competition is a requirement.

Documented experience of teaching and development of new course curricula, at basic as well as advanced (including postgraduate) levels within the entrepreneurship field are merits. Documented experience of supervision of Masters’ and PhD students is also a merit. Documented experience in communicating research outputs and societal impact are likewise merits, as is experience from and participation in all kinds of entrepreneurship events within or outside of universities.

Teaching experience within action oriented education is particularly meriting, as is experience from teaching using EdTech and/or other innovative pedagogical tools. Teaching is in Swedish and/or English. Excellence in both languages is a merit, but the person must be able to teach in at least one of these languages upon appointment. It is expected that any non-Swedish speaking appointee within a three-year period will master the Swedish language well enough to be able to teach and to communicate with the University’s professional services in Swedish.

In addition, importance will be attached as to how the applicant, through documented skills and experience, can strengthen and supplement the Centre’s research and teaching in this field.

The assessment of teaching expertise shall be given equal weight to the assessment of research expertise.
