Subject description
The position is connected to the Atmospheric Aerosol Group, studying airborne particles, in the Division of Nuclear Physics at the Department of Physics. Our research activities deal with role of atmospheric aerosols in the important environmental issues of climate and health.

We are looking for a researcher contributing to a new VR project about formation of cloud drops and ice from soot particles. The project is in cooperation with researchers at Ergonomics and Aerosol Technology at Lund University as well as groups at Umeå and Gothenburg Universities, where some experimental work will take place.

Work duties
The researcher will work experimentally within the project described above with specific focus on ice nucleation of soot particles of relevance for atmospheric clouds. The researcher will also act as assisting supervisor for a PhD student. Administration related to the work duties listed above is also part of the work.

Qualification requirement
Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Experience of experimental work on soot aerosol-cloud interactions, especially ice nucleation

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

  • We will especially value knowledge and experience of experimental work on ice nucleation.
  • An established network in aerosol-cloud interaction and/or atmospheric ice nucleation communities is of great value.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
Temporary position for 8 months.
