Lunds universitet, MAX IV, Imaging

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. The University has 40 000 students and 7 400 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

MAX IV is a national large-scale research laboratory providing scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world with instruments for research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually. 200 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory.

The successful candidate will join the NanoMAX team to ensure optimal operation of the two NanoMAX instruments including a functional layout of data-acquisition and analysis workflow. You will take part in the development and commissioning of the beamline and its two end-stations

 Your role:

- You will maintain and develop the instruments and data processing toolboxes.
- You will support NanoMAX users during the setup and execution of experiments.
- You are expected to take a leading role in the implementation and development of software tools for Coherent X-ray nano difraction and spectroscopy. It will be your task to establish efficient data handling and analysis workflows of the NanoMAX beamline. This includes identification of needs and the development of tools for diffraction and spectroscopic data processing/analysis.
- You will work closely with the scientific software team to bring new software ideas into userfriendly, robust, easy maintenable software tools for routine use at the beamline.
- In collaboration with users you will participate in the development of sample environments for nanoprobe experiments.

Your qualifications:

The successful candidate has the following qualifications:

 - PhD in natural sciences in subjects of relevance for NanoMAX.
 - Demonstrated knowledge of x-ray techniques of relevance for NanoMAX and experience with the use of scanning imaging approaches using nanobeams.
- Good programming skills in Python and extensive experience with the implementation of data acquisition and analysis algorithms.
- You are interested in interdisciplinary research and you are able to work  effectively with research groups of very diverse background and also with engineers and technicians.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
