Medicinska fakulteten är ett verksamhetsområde inom Lunds universitet, med ansvar för utbildning och forskning inom medicin, vård och hälsa. Job assignment

Applicants are invited to apply for a position as assistant researcher. The successful candidate has excellent knowledge with international research experience within the fields of stem cells and neurological diseases.

The candidate will carry out independent research in modeling neurodegenerative disease using stem cells, primary cultures and in vivo models, develop and implement new techniques and assist with education and supervision of PhD students and guest researchers. In addition, the tasks will include preparation and development of grant proposals, as well as planning and completion of projects. Importantly, the candidate will plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate detailed phases of several projects, as well as interact with team members, create and implement effective approaches for problem solving. The candidate will be pivotal to the research group as he or she will be a relay and support between all other team members including the research group leader, and is expected to raise funding for project implementation (salary support and operational grant).

Qualifications

- The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Neurosciences (M.D./Ph.D. degree will be an advantage) with several years of postdoctoral research experience, but not more than 4 years.

- The candidate must have a strong scientific track record based on CV and publication list, including international research experience.

- The candidate is expected to have expertise both ''in vivo'' in mouse models relevant to neurological disorders (ALS, spinal cord injury, AD, and stroke) and ''in vitro'' in stem cell expansion, differentiation, and transplantation. In addition, candidate should have strong experience with immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry analysis, qRT-PCR, generation of expression vectors (virus-based), and injection into brain and spinal cord. Expertise in behavioral rodent assessment will be an advantage. In addition, FELASA certificate is preferred, but not required.

- The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English.

- The candidate should be able to design and carry out experiments, and be proficient in communicating scientific research findings.

- The candidate has to act as a collaborative team player and have a prior experience in supervising and/or teaching.

- Emphasis will in addition be placed on the administrative skills (e.g. management of animal colonies), and candidate personal suitability.


Priority will be given to a candidate with less than 4 years of postdoc experience.

Salary according to agreement.
